A great resource for improving home energy usage is the U.S. Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE). This office puts an incredible amount of research and development into the two fields for which it is named. As a result, they have a lot of information to share related to energy conserving technology and practices.

Alternative home energy strategies may also be investigated within DSIRE, the Database of State Incentives for Renewables and Efficiency. Here, owners of both homes and businesses can research the latest incentives available for renewables and improved efficiency in their area. The installation of photovoltaic solar panels or wind turbines are just a couple areas where such incentives may apply.
