Green Energy

Green energy options are non-polluting and environmentally friendly. Examples of some specific resources include hydro, geothermal, wind, and solar power. Many people may also consider nuclear power to fall under this category. However, for most uses it is not wise to assume so.

As the name suggests, green energy is associated with environmentalism. This is very obvious as the idea of a thriving environment generally includes many lush, green species. The reason such power options are more environmentally-friendly is due to such factors as decreased carbon emissions and the lessened destruction of natural landscapes.

Green energy can reduce carbon emissions when it does not rely upon the burning of fossil fuels. This act of combustion releases an excess of carbon emissions which the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has determined to be a major contributor to global warming. In the case of nuclear power, radioactive waste disposal has posed many issues as well.
