Geothermal Energy
Geothermal energy gets its names from two Greek words. The first is geo, which refers to the earth. The second is thermos, meaning heat. Basically, the term refers to power that is extracted from heat stored within the earth.
There are several different sources of geothermal energy. The first comes from the original formation of the planet. Another type comes from the radioactive decay of minerals. The third and final source is that of solar energy which was absorbed at the surface.
Geothermal energy has been used for many different applications. In addition to this, it has been used for many years. In fact, it was applied during the time of ancient Rome for both space heating and bathing. Today, it is far more of interest in the realm of electrical generation.
