Alternative Energy
Alternative energy is made up of a number of energy resources which can replace traditional options. This basically means different resources for power which can replace fuel. A big focus for most people is, of course, that such options do so without having the same consequences of the replaced fuels.
There are official uses of the term "alternative energy" which are used in the descriptions of government incentives. In general, such definitions will not include fossil fuels and nuclear energy. This is because these choices encourage high emissions of carbon dioxide. Such excessive emissions have been determined by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change to contribute to global warming.
The concept of what resources fall under the alternative energy category has changed greatly over time. In some ways, use of the term today can be controversial. This is because there are many new options being explored with their own advantages and disadvantages. The advocates of each of these choices will often find their goals under scrutiny.
